How do I talk to Mum and Dad?

"Hi Mum, something happened to me today..."
Your mum has had hundreds of periods. She knows what it’s like. Plus your periods will probably be similar to hers, as you’ve got her genes. If she has light periods, there’s a good chance that you will too. That’s just one reason why it’s a really good idea to tell your mum once you’ve started. Getting a bit of expert help isn’t such a silly idea. And you really should tell your dad straightaway as well – or ask your mum to tell him. If you have tummy ache when you’re on, or if you’re a bit down because of PMS, it’s handy if your dad knows why. And neither Mums nor Dads think there’s anything strange about periods.
It might feel embarrassing and difficult to tell your parents, even though you know there’s nothing strange about periods. But it takes a maximum of 3 seconds to say, “Mum, my periods have started.” More than that you don’t need to say.
